Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
Your position is identifiable: you support protecting the countryside from new housing. You give relevant reasons, including the effect of development on farming and food prices, and mention the countryside’s peaceful character. However, the response addresses the question only partially: it does not explain how the need for new homes should be balanced against protection, and the reasons are asserted rather than developed with explanation or examples. The claim that population growth raises food prices, for instance, needs a clearer link to building homes in rural areas. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, leaving the argument incomplete. Develop each reason with a specific explanation or example and add a conclusion that restates your view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from your opinion to effects on farming and then to the importance of the countryside. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression is limited: the final paragraph introduces the countryside’s peacefulness without connecting it clearly to the earlier points, and there is no concluding paragraph. Linking phrases such as “Due to which” and “instead” are used, but the relationship between ideas is sometimes unclear; for example, the connection between reduced farming, population, and food prices needs to be explained. To improve, organise the response into a clear introduction, developed body paragraphs, and conclusion, using linking expressions to show cause and effect accurately.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “countryside,” “farming,” “industrial areas,” and “shortage of food,” so the main subject is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “countryside areas” and “impact.” Some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “modern area” and “in favour with those people,” while spelling errors such as “Bascially” and “thr” reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the general argument, but they make it less precise. Build a wider set of expressions for land use and development, and check spelling and collocations when editing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your writing mainly uses simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to show cause and effect, such as “Due to which farming has decline in huge number.” These attempts show an effort to connect ideas, but the limited range and frequent errors make the argument less clear. Examples include “new houses are really needs to be build,” “As number of companies have started building,” and “farming has decline,” where verb forms, agreement, or sentence construction are faulty. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, including the fragment “Less farming results in increase in the prices of food because of high population.” Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using clauses such as “because” and “which.”
