Student answer (Band 6.5)
These days cities are full of homes so new buildings are built in countryside. In my opinion, keeping countryside free from new homes will protect the greenery and the wildlife. It will maintain ecological balance and reduce pollution.
As the requirement of homes keep increasing with increasing population, we should building more house vertically. Apartment complex with high rises might resolve this problem. Rather than having twenty houses in one big space we can have thousands of apartments. Jobs will be created for people working in the apartment complex. These create less pollution as people don't have to travel for small needs of the day. Small shops are available in the complex itself example icecream, milk, chips. No more plants are cut in the countryside to create new homes.I am buying an apartment complex for our family rather than building a house.Countrysides a are beautiful with greenery, lakes, rivers lets keep it as is.
If we keep building new individal homes, it would take up more coutryside space and eventualy there will be no greenery or natural space left in which animals can live freely. We are encroaching their habitat by building new houses. If new house will be built, new business will follow like salon, grocery, resturants and school to support the infrastructure. As a result, we will take up more space from countryside. A whole greenbelt of about ten miles outside of Austin was turned into residential area two years ago. Now we see lot of wildlife like deers and rabbits wandering on roads as we took away their natural habitat.
Overall, buidling new houses in countryside would affect our environment in long run affecting the greenery, wildlife and natural balance so we should avoid it and try to build high rise apartment to support increasing population. Also, to have an ecological balance in nature.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear throughout: you support protecting the countryside and suggest building upwards instead. You address the main issue with relevant reasons, including preserving greenery and wildlife, reducing travel for everyday needs, and the Austin example of animals entering roads after habitat loss. These points give the response a solid, task-focused argument. To strengthen it further, develop some claims more carefully: for example, explain how high-rise housing could meet demand in practice, and clarify the link between apartment complexes and reduced pollution. The example is useful, but a little more detail about its consequences would make the support more convincing. Overall, the response addresses the task and extends its ideas, though some statements remain broad or briefly explained.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable progression: it states your opinion, proposes vertical housing, explains the environmental risks of continued expansion, and ends by restating your view. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “As a result” and “Overall” guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of a coherent overall arrangement and shows some features of clearer progression. However, connections within paragraphs are sometimes abrupt, particularly where the discussion moves from apartment jobs to shops and then to your personal choice. Some references are also unclear, as in “These create less pollution,” where the referent is not precise. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and avoid ending with the fragment “Also, to have an ecological balance in nature.”
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “ecological balance,” “wildlife,” “habitat,” “greenbelt,” and “residential area.” These terms help communicate the environmental argument, and the Austin example adds some specificity. There are also attempts at less common or precise language, although some choices are inaccurate or awkward: “requirement of homes” is less natural than “demand for housing,” and “take up more space from countryside” is not idiomatic. Spelling errors such as “individal,” “eventualy,” “resturants,” and “buidling” also limit accuracy. Aim to use familiar collocations reliably, and proofread spelling; this would make your vocabulary more precise without needing unnecessarily complex words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “If we keep building new individual homes…” and a relative clause in “in which animals can live freely.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and several sentences are incomplete or awkwardly formed. For example, “the requirement of homes keep increasing” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “we should building” uses the wrong verb form. “If new house will be built” also has an incorrect conditional construction, and the final “Also, to have an ecological balance in nature” is a fragment. Improve control of verb forms, agreement, articles, and complete sentence structure, then check punctuation and spacing between sentences.
