Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, the need for building a new home is highly increasing but the only option for it is building it in the countryside because of the space. In spite, there are some people who disagree with this action In order to protect the countryside. I agree with their perspective because I believe the country side should kept with much space for gathering animals and ploughing than making it crowded with home.

Most of the tome countryside is preferred to live in because of the nature we see. The garden, birds, animal makes this place heaven on earth. However, if new buildings are made, it could become a crowded place to live.

Moreover displacing the rural society in order to build new home may have a great impact on the market because we got most of cereals and vegetables from that space.

Additionally living in country side would be very challenging for the house owner. for instance, they may fail to adapt to the new established vilages . Moreover there are no recreational site compared to living in a city so,it may lead them to depression. personally, I had an expereince of travelling to country side once in a year to my grand mother home. I enjoy seeing the large garden filled with vegetables and fruit. It gives me peace of mind.

On the flip side there are many people who are in need of home in city so, to balance the demand of home with the population it is better to make high building apartments to give home for all.

In conclusion it is better to make high building apartments than using all space left in country side for building home. There must be a balance of it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you support protecting the countryside and conclude that apartments are a better way to meet housing demand. You give relevant reasons, including preserving space for farming and wildlife, protecting rural communities, and the challenges of adapting to country life. The personal example about your grandmother’s garden also helps make your view more concrete. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that rural housing could cause depression needs clearer support, and the discussion of displacing rural society is not fully connected to how new homes would cause this. Develop each main reason with a specific explanation or example, and make the link between your evidence and your opinion more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, supporting paragraphs, a counterpoint about housing demand, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Additionally,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of your argument. The ideas are generally relevant and can be followed, but some connections are abrupt or unclear. For instance, the paragraph about adapting to village life shifts from residents’ difficulties to your personal visit without clearly explaining how the example supports the argument. The phrase “On the flip side” introduces a solution, but the relationship between this point and the earlier reasons could be made clearer. Use topic sentences to establish each paragraph’s main purpose and connect examples directly to that purpose.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of relevant vocabulary, including “countryside,” “recreational site,” “displacing,” and “balance the demand,” and your meaning is usually understandable. There are also attempts to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary, such as describing the countryside as “heaven on earth.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “gathering animals,” “the need for building a new home is highly increasing,” and “make high building apartments.” Spelling errors such as “tome,” “vilages,” and “expereince” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations such as “provide grazing land for animals,” “housing demand is rising,” and “build high-rise apartment blocks,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if new buildings are made” and a reason clause beginning “because.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “the country side should kept” is missing “be,” while “The garden, birds, animal makes” has problems with plural agreement. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “build new home” and the lower-case “for instance” after a full stop. Some sentences run together or use commas where a full stop would be clearer. Practise checking verb forms, subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a complete grammatical structure.
