Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explain your motivation for the move, propose a method for managing your current duties, and request assistance from your manager. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of how you will manage your current role while abroad is slightly confusing, particularly the reference to the 'morning shift' and 'headquatar'. To improve, ensure that your proposed solutions are logical and clearly articulated. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though it could be more professional in its structure and phrasing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the purpose of the request to the logistics and finally the call to action. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'as', which help the reader follow your train of thought. However, the paragraphing is non-existent; the entire letter is written as a single block of text. In formal correspondence, it is essential to use clear paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, the body of the request, and the closing. Improving your paragraphing and using a wider variety of linking words would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your intentions clearly. You use some relevant business-related terms like 'vocational course', 'temporary transfer', and 'duties'. However, there are some spelling errors, such as 'headquatar' instead of 'headquarters', and minor word choice issues, such as 'can we done' (should be 'can be done'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations and ensure accurate spelling. The range of vocabulary is sufficient for the task but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. For example, 'I am supervisor in evening shift' lacks the necessary articles ('I am a supervisor on the evening shift'). Additionally, there are issues with verb tense consistency and preposition usage, such as 'gain more experience about my duties' (should be 'in my duties'). While these errors do not prevent the message from being understood, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of article usage and sentence construction.
