Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained your motivation for the transfer, outlined a plan for your current workload, and made a polite request for your manager's assistance. The tone is appropriate for a formal business letter. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, when discussing the handover, you could specify the duration of the training period or the specific systems you will document to ensure a smooth transition. Overall, the response is purposeful and fully meets the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a formal closing. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'Therefore', and 'Also' to link your ideas. However, the use of 'Also' at the start of several sentences is slightly repetitive and mechanical. To improve, try using a wider variety of transition words or phrases to connect your sentences more fluidly. Paragraphing is used correctly to separate the different aspects of your request, which helps the reader follow your argument easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'professional skills', 'contribution', and 'prompt response'. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'access me to discover' (should be 'allow me to discover') and 'convenience them' (should be 'convince them'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do highlight a need for more precise control over collocations. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated business-related phrases would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'my all responsibilities and work has been done' (should be 'will be handled') and 'access them information' (should be 'provide them with information'). Additionally, there are some minor issues with article usage and verb tense consistency. Despite these errors, the grammar is generally functional and does not prevent the reader from understanding your request. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
