Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear John Sir,
I am writing this letter to express my interest in working for head office in another nation for almost six months.
I am grateful to be serving for this company almost two years. But now I am planning to switch my position from administration assistant to an office head. It would be great if you allow me to work in another country as a head office. My plan to excecute all the experience at presentation which I had learned during internship Moreover, my colleague will follow up my work in my absence. Rest of the work, I can manage online and provide my employees submission of project on time.
I am requesting you to understand my desire and allow me to migrate in foreign country for trip purpose. I will make sure to provide fruitful result.
I hope you would take my suggestion into your consideration and act accordingly.
Yours Sincerely
Arpan

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt, which is a positive start. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention that a colleague will cover your work, you do not explain how this transition will be managed or how your specific responsibilities will be handled. Furthermore, the purpose of your trip is slightly confusing; you refer to it as a 'trip purpose' and 'migrate,' which contradicts the professional tone required for a work-related request. To improve, ensure your reasons for the transfer are more clearly linked to professional development and company benefit.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear opening and closing. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'I am writing this letter to,' which help the flow. However, the paragraphing is underdeveloped; the body of the letter is quite dense, and the transition between your current role and your proposed plan is abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus to guide the reader through your request more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and professional tone expected in a formal business letter. Phrases like 'John Sir' are inappropriate for a professional context; 'Dear John' or 'Dear Mr. [Surname]' would be standard. You also use some awkward collocations, such as 'provide my employees submission of project' and 'migrate in foreign country,' which sound unnatural. To improve, focus on learning business-specific collocations and formal register, avoiding informal or imprecise phrasing when discussing professional arrangements.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For instance, 'I am grateful to be serving for this company almost two years' is missing a preposition or time marker, and 'excecute all the experience at presentation' is grammatically incorrect. There are also issues with article usage (e.g., 'as a head office') and word forms. While your meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage to improve accuracy.
