Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt: the reason for the request, the handover plan, and the request for assistance. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. The explanation regarding the 're-training course' is a bit repetitive, and the request for the manager's help is phrased as a plea for 'close supervision,' which is slightly ambiguous in a professional context. While the tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, the content could be more clearly structured to ensure the manager understands the specific benefits of this training for the company.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the use of 'hence' at the start of a sentence following a fragment ('Being the most qualified person...') is grammatically incorrect and disrupts the flow. Additionally, the transition between the first and second paragraphs is somewhat abrupt. While the overall message is clear, the logical connection between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'the unit') is consistent throughout.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey the necessary information. There are some attempts at more specific terminology, such as 'operational assistance' and 'chief technician.' However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 're trainninig' and the misuse of 'plead' (which is usually reserved for emotional or legal contexts rather than business requests). The range is somewhat limited, and the repetition of certain phrases like 'the unit' suggests a need for more varied vocabulary to express ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include sentence fragments ('Being the most qualified person now in the machine and maintenance unit. hence...'), incorrect punctuation, and errors in subject-verb agreement or article usage. The closing 'Your faithfully' is also incorrect (it should be 'Yours faithfully'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band score. More attention to basic sentence construction and proofreading is required.
