Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Manager
I hope this email finds you well
I am writing this email to express my interest in working in company's main office in the USA for 6 months .
To explain you with complete picture, I am really enjoying as a part of this company from past two years. However, I received the invitation to work in company main office as Assistant manager , it is a great opportunity to experience different culture, learn work ethics and more about this role .
Furthermore, I can ensure you that on my time away my team will do all the tasks . I have trained my other coworkers to manage the workload . However, I am fully determined that my team will always work to achieve the target .
In particularly, I know it a life time experience and I really need your support for doing this . Please consider my request and arrange a meeting so that we can discuss every detail in person .
Looking forward to hear back from you
Yours truly
Ritika

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt: explaining the reason for the request, outlining how your work will be covered, and asking for assistance. The tone is appropriate for a professional letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention training coworkers, providing a more specific plan or mentioning a handover document would have strengthened the response. The purpose of the letter is clear, and the reader is left in no doubt about your intentions, which satisfies the requirements for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore' and 'In particularly' (though the latter is grammatically incorrect). However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure relies on simple linking words. To reach a higher band, you should aim for a more varied range of cohesive devices and ensure that the logical progression between ideas is more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'express my interest' and 'work ethics'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing or word choice, such as 'To explain you with complete picture' and 'I am really enjoying as a part of this company'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. You rely on fairly common vocabulary; incorporating more specific professional collocations would help improve your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('in company's main office'), incorrect prepositions ('enjoying as a part of'), and punctuation issues. Some sentences are slightly fragmented or awkward, such as 'I know it a life time experience'. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles would significantly improve your accuracy.
