Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to request you to allow me for working in the main office of the Infosys Corporation in Toronto, Canada.
Actually, I have been always looking for an opportunity to work in abroad for many years, unfortunately, I have never achieved it. The main reason to join the head office to adopt new culture and enhance my communication skills. Moreover, the six-month period in Canada would offers me cultural diversity and competitive salary.
While in abroad at your company's main branch, all my work would be handled by my colleague, Aman Sharma. He is quite cooperative and supportive, and always willing to help in every situation. In addition, he has my account login details, and he is also working on same project that company assigned us.
I would appreciate if you could approved my temporary transfer to head office, which would improve my productivity and creativity. I also request you please arrange an accommodation in company's guest house to avoid any inconvenience in another country.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours faithfully,
Mohit Kumar

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining the reason for the request, describing the handover process, and asking for assistance. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the reason for wanting to work in Toronto is slightly superficial, focusing on 'competitive salary' rather than professional development or specific project alignment. Additionally, the request for accommodation is a bit abrupt. To reach a higher band, ensure that your reasons are more professionally focused and that the request for help is integrated more smoothly into the flow of the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'While in abroad' to link ideas. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Actually, I have been always looking...' which is not ideal for a formal business letter. The referencing is generally clear, and the progression of ideas from the request to the handover and finally the logistical support is easy to follow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they sound natural would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant business-related terms like 'temporary transfer', 'main branch', and 'productivity'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'allow me for working' (should be 'allow me to work') and 'work in abroad' (should be 'work abroad'). The phrase 'competitive salary' is also slightly misplaced in a request for a temporary transfer, as this usually implies a permanent relocation. Expanding your range to include more precise professional collocations would help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include 'would offers me' (should be 'would offer me'), 'if you could approved' (should be 'if you could approve'), and 'working on same project' (missing an article). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of modal verbs and articles in formal writing.
