Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt: the reason for the request, the plan for work coverage, and the request for assistance. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited. For instance, the explanation of why you want to work at the head office is vague, simply stating it would be 'helpful to me for my future.' Similarly, the explanation of how work will be handled is brief and lacks professional detail. To achieve a higher band, you should expand on the specific benefits to the company and provide a more concrete plan for your current responsibilities while you are away.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure with an appropriate opening and closing. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Moreover,' and 'Furthermore.' However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The overall progression of ideas is clear, but the lack of depth in the content makes the flow feel somewhat disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they connect ideas more naturally would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You use some relevant professional terms like 'cybersecurity department' and 'working hours policy,' which is positive. However, there is a reliance on simple phrasing, such as 'great help' and 'doing well.' There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'request you about working' instead of 'request to work.' To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and professional terminology appropriate for a formal business request, and ensure that your word choices are grammatically precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are several grammatical errors throughout the text that affect the fluency of your writing. For example, 'I writing this letter' should be 'I am writing,' and 'since 4 years' should be 'for 4 years.' Additionally, the sentence 'Could you please able to help me' is grammatically incorrect; it should be 'Could you please help me' or 'Would you be able to help me.' While you attempt some complex structures, the frequency of these errors is noticeable. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct auxiliary verb usage will help you achieve a higher band score.
