Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to request you that i would like to work for six months in the head office of our company, which is in America. As, I know this is international company which serves many countries, but working for six months in the head office can be prove beneficial for career growth.
One of the main reason, this can be helpful for me to grow more in this company while knowing more about root facts and other policies. Additionally, I can get the knowledge of work done their, which is missing in our location so that we can do some improvements to reach the same profit margin.
There is no need to worry about my work behind, i already planned everything. I will do my this location work remotely and stay connected through zoom meetings.
I would be grateful if you can arrange this as per your earliest convenience. Please let me know if you require any information regarding my profile.
Thanks in advance.
Yours faithfully,
Manpreet.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: the reason for the request, the plan for ongoing work, and the request for assistance. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why the head office experience would be beneficial is vague, relying on general phrases like 'root facts' and 'policies' rather than specific professional goals. Similarly, the explanation of how work will be managed is brief. While the task is fully addressed, the depth of the response is closer to the Band 6 level, as some points could be more fully developed to demonstrate a clearer professional rationale.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices, such as 'Additionally' and 'One of the main reason', though some of these are used slightly awkwardly. The referencing is generally clear, and the overall structure follows the standard conventions of a formal letter. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression could be smoother with more varied linking words. Overall, the organization is sufficient to communicate the message clearly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'can be prove beneficial' and 'knowledge of work done their' (should be 'there'). The student relies on basic vocabulary and makes some errors in word choice that, while not impeding communication, prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, the student should focus on using more professional collocations and ensuring correct word forms, as the current range is somewhat limited and repetitive.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'request you that i would like', 'One of the main reason', and 'do my this location work'. These errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, are noticeable. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors indicates a lack of control over complex structures. The student needs to focus on basic grammatical accuracy, such as article usage and verb tense consistency, before attempting more complex sentence patterns.
