Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Mr Kapoor,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to express my interest in working in a head office of our company in Japan for six months.
I have been working as an assistant manager for five years and now I want to work in the company's head office in order to explore a new work environment and meet diverse cultural employees to develop new professional skills. Additionally, these kind of work allows me to build confidence and gain in-depth knowledge regarding advanced technologies and computer systems, which I didn't used till now.
While I am away from my work, all my responsibilities will take by my colleagues and I will stay in touch with them through phone calls and emails while them encountered difficulties. Also, I will suggest them to how to overcome the difficulties and meet the deadline of projects.
I will appreciate it if you could refer my name to manager of our company and request them to allow me to work in head office. Additionally, give them brief introduction about my contribution for the success of numerous important projects and progress of our company.
I hope you consider my request and allow me to work for six months in the head office. I look forward to your prompt response in this matter.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours faithfully,
Twinkle

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly explain the motivation for the transfer, propose a plan for your current responsibilities, and request the manager's assistance. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, though the explanation of how work will be covered could be slightly more professional in its phrasing. Overall, the task is fully addressed with a clear purpose throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding request. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different requirements of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally' and 'While I am away', which help the flow of ideas. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the connection between sentences in the third paragraph could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'professional skills', 'in-depth knowledge', and 'contribution'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'these kind of work' (should be 'this kind of work') and 'meet diverse cultural employees' (which is slightly unnatural). While you attempt to use more sophisticated language, some phrasing remains basic. Increasing your use of precise collocations would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'which I didn't used till now' (should be 'which I haven't used until now'), 'responsibilities will take by my colleagues' (should be 'will be taken by'), and 'while them encountered difficulties' (should be 'when they encounter'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band score. Focusing on verb tense consistency and passive voice construction will be beneficial.
