Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining the reason for the request, proposing a plan for your current workload, and asking for the manager's assistance. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat uneven. The third paragraph is incomplete, as the sentence 'ensure all of' cuts off abruptly, and the request for an 'appraisal letter' is slightly confusing in the context of asking for a transfer. To improve, ensure all sentences are complete and that your request for help is clearly linked to the logistical arrangements of the transfer rather than a performance appraisal.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure with clear paragraphing. You use some cohesive devices such as 'The main reason for my request' and 'In addition' to guide the reader. However, the flow is interrupted by the incomplete sentence in the third paragraph, which negatively impacts the coherence of that section. Additionally, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the mechanical error in the third paragraph prevents a higher score. Ensure that you proofread your work to avoid unfinished thoughts that disrupt the logical progression of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'professional development', 'international operations', and 'cultural backgrounds'. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'get some experience from the seniors' (which is slightly informal) and 'Write a appraisal letter' (which should be 'an appraisal letter'). While these errors do not impede communication, they show a lack of precision. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and ensure articles are used correctly. Your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I believe this experience would greatly benefit my professional development'. However, there are several grammatical issues, including the incomplete sentence in the third paragraph and the missing article before 'head office'. There is also a capitalization error in 'Write a appraisal letter'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your intent, they occur frequently enough to indicate a lack of control over more complex structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and ensuring all sentences are fully formed will help improve your accuracy.
