Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Raju,
Hope you are doing well. In this letter, I am working as a software engineering, most of the time I worked from home because my program is online and I get bored at home, even I am unable to learn more task about changes in the coming software program.
I am thinking about if it is possible to allow me six month head office training for our upcoming software. I attend online classes but I did not get more information about the version 2.2. I talked one of our company's technician as well as I follow all the steps but at the end there is an error coming.
Then I do it again in same way but I am unable to login for further steps and it shows software crash. I called to technician and told the whole store, he suggest me if would attend a physical training in head office. I can do my regular work online but is it possible if you arrange accommodation for me.
Your sincerely
Ram

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points, but the development is somewhat uneven. You explain your desire to work at the head office due to technical difficulties with software version 2.2, and you mention that your regular work can be done online. However, the request for help in arranging the transfer is slightly vague, as you focus more on asking for accommodation rather than the transfer process itself. The tone is generally appropriate for a professional request, though the explanation of your technical issues is a bit repetitive and could be more concise to allow for a clearer focus on the professional benefits of the proposed six-month placement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organized into a logical sequence, moving from the purpose of the letter to the specific technical problems and finally the request. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. For example, the transition between the technical issues and the request for accommodation feels abrupt. Paragraphing is also insufficient; the entire body of the letter is presented as one large block, which makes it harder for the reader to follow the distinct points. Using clear paragraph breaks for each bullet point would significantly improve the flow and readability of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. You use basic terms like 'get bored' and 'told the whole store' (which is an incorrect idiom; you likely meant 'the whole story'). There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'software engineering' used as a noun for a person instead of 'software engineer'. To improve, focus on using more professional terminology related to workplace requests and technical troubleshooting. While your meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary prevents a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. For instance, 'I am working as a software engineering' should be 'I work as a software engineer', and 'I talked one of our company's technician' is missing the preposition 'to'. You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and your attempts at complex sentences often contain errors in tense or word order, such as 'he suggest me if would attend'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. Increasing your control over basic verb tenses and prepositions will help improve your accuracy.
