Student answer (Band 7.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to request the opportunity of working at our company's head office in Jakarta. I believe that this would be a great opportunity for me to hone my professional skills and have in insight on how the operations are managed overseas.
Working at the head office will aid me to collaborate with colleagues of internal department and also learn about the international protocols. Not only this, it will help me to build confidence and apply the necessary skills and knowlegde that will benefit our local organisation.
While I am away, all the office work and responsibilities will be managed without any disruptions. I could complete all the work remotely and handover the important notes to my colleague so that urgent matters are taken care off. Additionally, I would also remain available for any meetings and queries.
It would be really grateful if you assist me in arranging the transfer, with possibly discussing it with the head quaters and providing me with further details and procedures. I will be happy to meet at your convenience and discuss the proposal in detail.
Your Sincerely,
Devanshi Patel

The tone is appropriate for a formal business letter. The ideas are well-developed and relevant, providing enough detail to satisfy the requirements of the task. The purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning, and the closing is professional. No parts of the task were omitted, and the response maintains a consistent focus throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the request, which helps the reader follow your argument easily. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'While I am away', 'Not only this', and 'Additionally' to link your sentences and paragraphs effectively. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter. The flow of information is smooth, and the relationship between your request and the proposed solutions is clearly established, ensuring the text is easy to read and coherent.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary appropriate for a professional context, such as 'hone my professional skills', 'international protocols', and 'at your convenience'. There are a few minor errors, such as 'have in insight' (should be 'have an insight') and 'head quaters' (spelling error). However, these do not impede communication. You use some less common collocations effectively, which shows a good level of lexical control. To reach a higher band, ensure that you proofread for small spelling slips and minor prepositional inaccuracies.

There are a few minor slips, such as 'It would be really grateful if you assist me' (should be 'I would be really grateful if you could assist me') and 'taken care off' (should be 'taken care of'). These are occasional errors that do not affect the clarity of your message. Your use of modal verbs and conditional structures is appropriate for the formal tone required in this task.
