Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The candidate has successfully addressed all three bullet points required in the prompt. First, the desire to work at the headquarters in New York is clearly explained by mentioning the opportunity to build professional relationships and show passion for the company. Second, the writer explains how work will be handled during the absence by stating they will remain accessible via email and professional platforms. Third, assistance in arranging the transfer is appropriately requested in the closing sections. Although some ideas like the marketing surveys are slightly under-developed, all parts of the task are covered with a clear and appropriate tone suitable for a formal business correspondence. Therefore, the response fulfills the requirements for Band 6.5, leaning towards Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is generally coherent and follows a logical arrangement with an appropriate opening and closing. Paragraphing is used to separate different points, such as the motivation for the move and the plan for covering work responsibilities. However, the progression between ideas is sometimes interrupted by mechanical cohesive devices and repetitive transitions like 'It would be great if' and 'Moreover'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'firslty for the oragnization overall sales will be increased' where the linkage feels rushed and abrupt. Despite these minor structural flaws, the overall message remains clear throughout the response, justifying a solid Band 6 score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating business-related terms such as 'professional relationships', 'surveys and campaigns', and 'temporary transfer'. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'ovre there', 'firslty', and 'oragnization', alongside minor collocation slips like 'request you about giving me a opportunity'. While these errors do not impede communication, they reflect a limited control of less common lexical items, placing the response firmly within the Band 6 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses, such as 'as I will do some surveys and campaigns once you transfer me'. There are several grammatical errors and awkward structures throughout the text, including 'That wil be great', 'While I will away', and capitalization issues like 'Moreover, It'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but frequent minor inaccuracies in verb tenses and prepositions mean that error-free sentences are not in the majority. These errors rarely impede overall communication, aligning the writing with the criteria for Band 6.
