Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You clearly explain your motivation for wanting to work at the head office, stating that 'this experience would be valuable for professional growth' and would allow you to learn about international operations. You also effectively address how your work will be managed while away, mentioning that you can complete important tasks beforehand and train a colleague. Furthermore, you appropriately ask for your manager's help in arranging the temporary transfer and discussing procedures. The tone is semi-formal and generally appropriate for a workplace request, and all parts of the prompt are well-addressed with clear, relevant ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is structured into clear paragraphs, each dedicated to a specific part of the prompt, which aids readability and progression. Cohesive devices are used to link ideas, such as 'while i am away', 'Additionally', and 'Also'. However, there are some mechanical or repetitive cohesive patterns, and paragraphing could be polished. For instance, sentences are sometimes punctuated inconsistently (e.g., lowercase letters at the start of sentences like 'i am writing' and 'i could bring'). Overall, the letter has a clear logical organisation and progression from the opening statement to the final call to action, fitting the criteria for a solid performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating your message about a work transfer. You attempt some less common business-related vocabulary such as 'professional growth', 'international operations', and 'temporary transfer'. However, there are notable limitations and word choice inaccuracies, such as 'benefit for the company' instead of 'benefit the company', and 'apply on it' instead of 'apply it'. Additionally, spelling and capitalization errors (e.g., 'international company' used generically, 'convinient') restrict the lexical score, but meaning remains clear throughout.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'working at the head office would allow me to learn more about international operations' and 'while i am away, i will make sure that my responsibilities are managed properly.' However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors, most notably the consistent failure to capitalize the pronoun 'I' and the beginnings of sentences (e.g., 'i am writing', 'i could bring', 'Please'). There are also minor syntactic slips such as 'before i leaving' and 'i also available online'. Despite these errors, communication is rarely impeded, representing a standard typical of this band level.
