Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers all three bullet points from the prompt: explaining the reason for the transfer, mentioning how work will be handled, and asking for help. However, the ideas are under-developed due to the very brief nature of the paragraphs. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response contains only 122 words, falling short of the 150-word minimum. This lack of full development and failure to meet the minimum word count prevent the response from achieving a higher score. While the tone attempts a formal letter format, the content remains very basic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter is broken into short, fragmented paragraphs, which disrupts the logical flow and progression of ideas. Although there is a basic structure with an opening and closing, the transitions between sentences are very weak. For instance, the paragraph discussing work coverage contains disjointed statements like 'All the Office work will be done when i was away. Its great for our Company and work will more faster thein regulery.' There is a lack of effective cohesive devices, and the overall organization feels mechanical and abrupt.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling mistakes such as 'opportuniity', 'abale', 'employes', 'beleve', 'expereance', 'helpfil', 'desperatale', and 'faithfull'. Words and phrases like 'company office' and 'office work' are simplistic. While the writer attempts to convey their message, the lexical range is severely limited, and the numerous errors in spelling and word choice frequently distract the reader, aligning the response with Band 5 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammar demonstrates a heavy reliance on simple sentence structures, alongside unsuccessful attempts at complex structures that contain noticeable errors. Examples include 'I am writing to request you to transfer me' and 'work will more faster thein regulery.' There are frequent issues with verb tenses, such as mixing present and past reference ('when i was away'), missing articles, and punctuation errors. These persistent errors across the text cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited grammatical range.
