- ask for his/her help in arranging it
You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear ................. ,
Student answer (Band 7.5)
Dear Mr. Joel,
The purpose of my writing today is to sincerely request you to allow me to apply for a short-term transfer to our main headquarters in England.
The primary reason why I am urged to move is that the senior leadership abroad have planned to host a 6-month workshop for keen learners, in which the goal is to provide essential communication skills and customer service experience. Thus, I am planning to join the senior team and grab as much knowledge as I could.
Since my current position also allows myself to entirely switch to work remotely, I would be able to complete my regular duties even if I am not at the work-site. Additionally, as you will appreciate, I have already talked to Andrew who is voluntarily willing to take charge if required.
Therefore, I would like you to kindly consider my accomodation request and let me know if you need anything from my end.
Thank you for your time. I look forward to receiving your reply promptly.
Best regards,
Simanpreet Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You successfully cover all three bullet points required in the task instructions. First, you clearly explain your motivation for wanting to work at the head office, mentioning the 6-month workshop for essential communication skills and customer service experience. Second, you address how your work will be managed by explaining that you can switch to remote work and have arranged for Andrew to take charge if required. Finally, you appropriately ask your manager for help by requesting that he consider your transfer request. Your tone is polite, professional, and entirely suitable for a formal letter to a manager. All parts of the prompt are fully addressed and supported with logical, relevant details, meeting the criteria for a strong band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0
Your letter is well-structured and easy to follow. You use a clear paragraphing strategy, separating your introduction, main body points (reasons for the move, work coverage, and request for help), and a polite sign-off. Cohesive devices such as 'The primary reason', 'Since', 'Additionally', and 'Therefore' are employed appropriately to connect your ideas and guide the reader through the text. The logical progression is smooth, and referencing is handled accurately throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient and generally appropriate range of vocabulary for this task, incorporating good formal phrases like 'sincerely request', 'short-term transfer', and 'senior leadership'. However, there is a minor spelling error ('accomodation' instead of 'accommodation') and a slight unnaturalness in phrasing such as 'grab as much knowledge as I could' or 'The purpose of my writing today'. Despite these occasional lapses and spelling slips, your vocabulary effectively communicates your meaning with adequate precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'The primary reason why I am urged to move is that...' and 'Since my current position also allows myself to entirely switch to work remotely...'. Your control over grammar and punctuation is generally sound, though there is a minor error with the reflexive pronoun usage ('allows myself' instead of 'allows me') and a slightly awkward infinitive construction ('switch to work remotely'). Nevertheless, the majority of your sentences are accurate and communication is never impeded.
