Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The candidate addresses all three parts of the prompt. First, the writer explains the desire to work in the head office in Canada to gain professional skills, foreign work experience, and learn how to deal with international clients. Second, the writer covers how the work will be done in their absence by finishing work remotely, attending meetings through Zoom, and training a colleague. Third, the writer asks for help in arranging the opportunity and passing the request to the head office. However, some ideas are repetitive and phrasing is at times awkward, such as the redundant repetition of 'for me' and 'for our company'. All bullet points are present and sufficiently addressed, earning a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical progression from stating the purpose to outlining remote arrangements and finally requesting assistance. Paragraphing is attempted, with distinct sections for the introduction, reasons, coverage plan, and conclusion. However, cohesive devices are sometimes faulty or mechanical, as seen in the run-on sentence structure in the second paragraph ('beguisse I believe it will very benefical for me because I can again professional skill and also gain I can gain...'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, and punctuation errors disrupt the flow, leading to a Band 5.5 score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, but contains numerous spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'beguisse' instead of 'because', 'benefical' instead of 'beneficial', 'again' instead of 'gain', 'collegue' instead of 'colleague', and 'us' instead of 'use'. The candidate attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'professional skill', 'foreign work experience', and 'remotely', but inaccuracy in word formation and collocation limits the score to Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the response. There are frequent errors in verb tense, preposition usage, and sentence boundaries, such as run-on sentences in the second and third paragraphs (e.g., 'Moreover, In my absence I will finish my work remotely even I can attend all the meeting through zoom however...'). Punctuation is largely neglected, with missing periods and commas. Because these errors can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, the grammar performance aligns best with Band 5.0.
