Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this to letter express my concerns regarding my work experince in your company. Currently I am working as a human resource manageer and I believed this opportunty provided me with great confidence. Now I would like to work in the head office, which is located in London, for six months.
One of the reasons, I want to travel and work in the head office is that this platform not only will improve my communcation and networking skills but also, will help me to gain dynamic experience.
Howevern I can manage my job duties while I will be away. I can finish important reports and assignments before I leave for six months. I can also work remotely if anything urgent comes up as I will stay in contact with my colleagues.
Lastly, it would be great if you could make arrangements with the higher officers for my transfer to headoffice for six months. You can share my profile with them so that they will know about what benefits I can bring while I will be working in the head office.
Looking forward to be hearing from you.
Thanks and Regards,
Maria

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all three bullet points required by the task prompt. You successfully explain why you want to work in the head office in London for six months, noting that it will improve communication and networking skills. You also address how your work could be done by finishing important reports beforehand and working remotely. Finally, you ask for your manager's help in arranging the transfer. However, the purpose of the letter is somewhat contradictory at the beginning, as you write that you are expressing concerns regarding your work experience rather than requesting a transfer, which creates a slight confusion regarding your initial stance. Despite this minor slip, the overall purpose becomes clear, and all prompt requirements are met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is structured with appropriate paragraphing, moving logically from the opening statement to the reasons for the request, work management during absence, and finally the call to action. Cohesive devices are used adequately, such as 'One of the reasons', 'However', and 'Lastly', although some transitions feel slightly mechanical or are affected by spelling errors like 'Howevern'. Referencing is generally clear, and the overall progression of ideas is easy to follow from the beginning to the sign-off, resulting in a coherent and structured response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'dynamic experience', 'remote', and 'networking skills'. However, there are several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'letter express' instead of 'express this letter', 'experince', 'manageer', and 'headoffice'. Furthermore, phrases like 'higher officers' are slightly unnatural in this context compared to 'senior management'. These errors do not impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to the band 6 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional-like structures such as 'so that they will know about what benefits I can bring'. There are, however, several grammatical inaccuracies and awkward phrasings, such as 'I believed this opportunty provided me' (tense inconsistency), 'One of the reasons, I want to travel' (unnecessary comma), and 'Looking forward to be hearing from you' (incorrect verb form). While these errors occur regularly throughout the response, they rarely impede overall communication.
