- ask for his/her help in arranging it
You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear ................. ,
Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to formally request authorisation for six months transfer to our head office in Australia from January to June.
Specifically, the rationale for this request is that I have applied for a 6-month certificate program in Supply Chain, and the commencement date has arrived. This way, I could gain international exposure to studies and proportionally contribute to our company. Furthermore, I want to attend a training session on logistical operations.
To ensure no disruption to departmental operations during my absence, I proactively organised contingent coverage for my responsibilities. John agreed to oversee all the necessary documentation work for me. Prior to my flight, I will make sure to complete mandatory tasks and projects that I have been working on.
I would be grateful if you could arrange everything for me at your earliest convenience for a seamless and flawless visit.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Vishal.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully covers all three bullet points required by the task prompt. You clearly explain the reasons for wanting to work in the Australia head office, mentioning both a certificate program in Supply Chain and a training session on logistics. You also address how your work will be managed by stating that John will oversee necessary documentation and that you will complete mandatory tasks prior to leaving. Finally, you politely ask your manager to arrange everything at their earliest convenience. The tone is appropriate for a professional workplace request, maintaining a formal register throughout. Ideas are relevant and fully developed, meeting all the criteria for a Band 7.0 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter exhibits a clear logical progression from stating the purpose of the request, to providing reasons, explaining work coverage, and finally making the formal request for assistance. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as moving from the rationale in paragraph two to the operational handover in paragraph three. Cohesive devices are handled reasonably well with connectors like 'Specifically,' 'Furthermore,' and 'Prior to my flight,' though paragraphing and cohesion are straightforward rather than highly sophisticated. Referencing is clear throughout, contributing to an overall coherent arrangement that aligns well with the Band 7.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using professional terms such as 'formally request authorisation', 'rationale', 'international exposure', 'proactively organised', and 'contingent coverage'. There are occasional slight awkwardnesses in collocation, such as 'six months transfer' (which would be better phrased as 'a six-month transfer') and 'proportionally contribute', but these do not impede communication. Spelling and word choice are generally accurate, showing a good level of control appropriate for a Band 7.0 score in lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The writing contains a good mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating control over structures such as 'To ensure no disruption... I proactively organised...' and 'I would be grateful if you could...'. There are a few minor grammatical errors, such as missing an article in 'for six months transfer' (should be 'for a six-month transfer') and a slight phrasing issue in 'the commencement date has arrived'. However, the majority of sentences are accurate, punctuation is handled well, and errors do not impede communication at all. This performance reflects a solid Band 7.0 level.
