Dear ................. ,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Manager,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to express my interest for working in head office for six months. Our company is renowned all around the world and it would be a great opportunity to meet our top leaders at the headquarter.
I am particularly interested to visit our head office in Canada because I feel that we need to make some changes on traditional methods. Despite using multiple AI software, our department failed to improve customer experience. I believe that customer satisfaction should be a top priority of our company to increase the revenue in a long term.
I will try to manage important tasks by myself and I may transfer other tasks to my colleagues. Could you please help me with other arrangements like accomodation and air travel? I am not sure how reimbursement proces works in this company. It would be really appreciated if you can help me out on this.
Please let me know if you need any further information. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you
Kind regards,
Vaibhav

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The student covers all bullet points required by the task prompt. First, the writer explains the reason for wanting to work in the head office, mentioning the desire to meet top leaders and address traditional methods. Second, the response touches upon how work will be handled, stating 'I will try to manage important tasks by myself and I may transfer other tasks to my colleagues.' Third, the writer asks for help with logistics, specifically requesting assistance with accommodation, air travel, and the reimbursement process. The tone is appropriate for a workplace letter, and the purpose is clear throughout. The ideas are sufficiently developed for a Band 6.5 or 7.0 response, meeting all requirements of the prompt effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical structure with clear paragraphing, moving from an opening greeting and statement of purpose to the specific reasons for the request, plans for covering work, logistics inquiries, and a polite closing. Cohesive devices are used adequately, such as 'Despite using multiple AI software' and 'Please let me know if you need any further information.' However, some transitional connections could be smoother to enhance the overall flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, ensuring that the reader can easily follow the progression of the writer's request. Referencing is generally clear, contributing to a coherent overall arrangement.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for a formal business correspondence, incorporating terms such as 'renowned all around the world,' 'customer experience,' and 'reimbursement.' However, there are a few lexical and collocational inaccuracies, such as writing 'interest for working' instead of 'interest in working,' 'headquarter' instead of 'headquarters,' and 'proces' instead of 'process' (a spelling error). Despite these minor errors, the vocabulary used is sufficient to convey the intended message clearly without impeding communication, representing a solid performance at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional and subordinate clauses like 'I believe that customer satisfaction should be a top priority...' and 'It would be really appreciated if you can help me out on this.' There are some minor grammatical errors, notably 'interest for working' (preposition error) and 'reimbursement proces works' (spelling slip), along with missing articles or slight awkwardness in phrasing. Nevertheless, the majority of sentences are grammatically sound, and punctuation is handled well. The errors do not impede communication, matching the criteria for Band 6.5.
