Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The candidate has partially covered all three bullet points required by the task. The reason for wanting to work in the head office is mentioned, a method for handling work while away is introduced, and a request for help is included. However, the response falls short of the official 150-word minimum, containing only 118 words. Due to this under-length condition, the ideas remain underdeveloped and lack sufficient expansion. For instance, the explanation of how work will be done relies heavily on a brief mention of zoom meetings without practical depth. According to the band descriptors, addressing all parts of the task only partially and keeping ideas limited corresponds to a band score of 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The letter attempts a conventional structure with an appropriate salutation and sign-off, although the opening 'Dear sir,' is slightly informal or generic. The organization shows an overall progression as each paragraph corresponds loosely to a prompt requirement. However, paragraphing is underdeveloped, and cohesive devices are somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'that will assist to not only communicate, but also help to get...'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the ambiguous pronoun use in 'completion on task accurately'. While the text is coherent enough to be followed, these flaws place it firmly within the band 5 descriptor range due to inadequate and repetitive cohesive devices.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word choice and collocation that affect precision. Examples include 'experencing new methods' (experiencing), 'gaint the market share' (gain), and 'challanging task' (challenging). The candidate attempts some less common terms like 'productivity' and 'beverage product', but the vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for the task. Because these errors and the restricted lexical range occasionally cause difficulty for the reader without completely impeding communication, a band score of 5.0 is appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, such as 'i employee' instead of 'an employee', 'I am interesting' instead of 'interested', and 'I have plan to do work' instead of 'I plan to work'. Additionally, preposition use is frequently inaccurate, as seen in 'completion on task'. While the meaning can generally be deciphered, the high frequency of basic errors and the lack of error-free complex sentences indicate a band 5.0 level of grammatical control.
