Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response addresses the task only partially, as some bullet points are not fully developed or are omitted. While the writer mentions why she wants to work in the head office, the explanation is brief and focuses somewhat irrelevantly on general job satisfaction rather than professional motivations for the transfer. Furthermore, the second bullet point regarding how work could be done while away is entirely missing from the letter, and the request for help in arranging the transfer is underdeveloped. The position is not always clearly stated, and ideas remain limited, reflecting a response that touches upon the prompt superficially without satisfying all requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is some basic organisation in the letter, but it lacks a clear overall progression. The response begins with a formal greeting, but the paragraphing is poor, with the main body compressed into a single messy block and incomplete thoughts trailing off. Cohesive devices are either missing or inaccurate, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the sudden shifts between personal background, reasons for loving the job, and the request to go abroad. Overall, the ideas are not arranged coherently enough to guide the reader smoothly through the letter, resulting in a disjointed structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'receptionsist', 'honsetly', 'difficulities', 'meembers', 'positiion', and 'definetaly'. The student attempts some basic descriptive language, but frequent errors in word form and spelling occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and prevent the vocabulary range from being considered adequate for a higher band. Repetitive phrasing such as 'get a chance' also limits lexical variety.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with occasional attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('working as a receptionist', 'at fixed time period'), incorrect subject-verb agreement ('The owners... is'), fragments and incomplete sentences ('Furthermore, if I get a chance to visit abroad and get to know about new lifestyle.'), and punctuation slips like uncapitalised pronouns and misplaced commas. These frequent errors require the reader to decode the meaning and cause noticeable difficulty.
