Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, successfully explaining the desire to work in the Toronto head office, suggesting how work could be managed remotely, and asking the manager for assistance. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack full clarity. For instance, the explanation of why you want to work in Canada is slightly repetitive, mentioning the desire to gain knowledge and that senior managers are there, but this could have been elaborated with more specific professional goals. Similarly, the description of how work will be handled from afar lacks specific operational details. Nevertheless, all three bullet points from the prompt are covered, establishing a relevant, polite tone suitable for a general workplace correspondence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear purpose established right from the beginning. Information is divided into logical paragraphs covering the introduction, reasons for the request, remote work arrangements, and the final plea for help. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, transition words and connectors like 'Whereas' and 'While i will be out of country, but' are misused or lead to awkward sentence boundaries, and referencing is not always completely clear. Paragraphing is present and generally attempts to group related ideas together, but smoother cohesive devices and clearer signposting are needed to elevate the flow of the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to incorporate less common workplace terms such as 'senior manager' and 'online platforms'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors and word-choice inaccuracies that appear throughout the letter, such as 'intreasted' instead of interested, 'senoir' instead of senior, and 'apportunity' instead of opportunity. Word forms and collocations also show occasional awkwardness, such as 'serve in the head office' rather than work or be based. While these lexical errors and typos do not seriously impede overall communication, they restrict the lexical score because control over less common vocabulary and spelling remains inconsistent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like subordinate clauses and compound sentences. However, there are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and articles that occur across the response. Examples include capitalization issues ('i', 'indiahas'), tense and agreement errors ('since ten years' instead of for ten years, 'As i recently promoted' missing the passive auxiliary 'was'), and awkward punctuation with commas spliced incorrectly ('Canada. So, i also want', 'zone so, it will'). While these errors rarely completely impede understanding, they cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and show that control over complex grammatical patterns is still developing.
