Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, successfully explaining why you want to work at the head office, how your current work will be managed in your absence, and asking for assistance with arrangements. However, the development of these ideas is limited and somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of how your work will be done relies on vague statements such as 'necessary arrangements have been made to do work', and the request for help focuses immediately on specific logistical demands like flight tickets and hotel rooms rather than a broader discussion of the transfer process. This partial development places the response in the mid-range of task fulfilment, as key points are mentioned but lack the depth and extension required for a higher level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement and follows a clear logical sequence from the opening greeting to the final sign-off, covering your reasons, work coverage, and requests in order. Paragraphing is used to separate distinct points, although some paragraphs are combined into single blocks that could be broken down further for better visual and structural clarity. Cohesive devices are used, but referencing is at times basic or slightly mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'to do work' and transition words like 'moreover' and 'as well as' which connect clauses rather loosely. While the overall flow is acceptable and easy to follow, the management of cohesive ties prevents the writing from achieving a more fluid organization.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing enough terms to communicate your basic message, but the range is limited. There are noticeable errors in word choice, form, and collocation, such as writing 'cabale' instead of 'capable', and phrasing the desire to transfer as wanting to change your position 'to company head office'. Additionally, expressions like 'from the side of company' sound unnatural and lack precision. While these lexical slips do not completely prevent understanding, they highlight a restricted command of vocabulary and incorrect word forms that constrain the lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or faulty complex sentences. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, including lowercase pronouns ('i am writing'), missing articles ('on emails if there any assistance required'), and awkward clause structures such as 'I will be waiting from hearing back from you'. Punctuation errors, such as missing capitalisation at the beginning of sentences and after full stops, are also apparent. These frequent errors in basic sentence construction, verb patterns, and punctuation can occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted grammatical control.
