Student answer (Band 5.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to asking your permisson for working in abroad clinic in another nation.
I have been working in the same department since a year. When I joined this clinic as I was interested in sports rehabilitation, but you give me opportunity for working in other areas including Orthopaedic and Paediatrics. Most importantly, I want to gain experience in another areas also such as Sports unit. Because I have an interest.
As there are many Physiotherapist's, new staff members are also added and I believe work will not harmed and please ask for other staff members to help me get through this.
I kindly request for permission and ask for help. As now help me to get through it.
I hope you will understand me. I believe it will give benefit to our clinic.
Thank you,
Yours faithfully,
Rajandeep Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You give a relevant reason for wanting a placement, explaining that you are interested in sports rehabilitation and would like experience in other areas. You also attempt to address how work could continue by mentioning other physiotherapists and new staff, and you ask your manager for permission. However, the purpose is not consistently clear: the task concerns the company’s head office in another country, while you refer to an “abroad clinic” and do not explain why working at the head office for six months would benefit you or the company. The plan for covering your duties is vague, and the request for help does not specify what arrangements you need. Develop each point with clear, task-specific details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The letter has a recognisable opening, several body paragraphs and a closing, and the ideas broadly follow the order of the task: your reason, work coverage and request. However, progression is difficult to follow in places. For example, “Because I have an interest” is an isolated fragment, while “please ask for other staff members to help me get through this” does not clearly connect the staffing point to a practical coverage plan. The request is also repeated in “I kindly request for permission” and “As now help me to get through it.” Use each paragraph for one clear purpose, connect ideas with accurate linking phrases, and avoid repeating the same request.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant workplace and professional vocabulary, including “department,” “sports rehabilitation,” “Orthopaedic,” “Paediatrics” and “Physiotherapist,” which helps communicate your background. The range is nevertheless limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “working in abroad clinic,” “gain experience in another areas” and “work will not harmed.” “Help me get through this” is also vague for a formal request about arranging a temporary placement. Choose precise phrases such as “work at the overseas head office,” “broaden my experience” and “ensure my responsibilities are covered.” Check spelling and word forms, including “permission,” and use consistent, appropriate capitalisation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, for example, “When I joined this clinic as I was interested in sports rehabilitation, but you give me opportunity…” However, the longer structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “I am writing this letter to asking,” “since a year,” “you give me opportunity,” and “work will not harmed.” There are also problems with articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries, as in the fragment “Because I have an interest.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check tense consistency: for example, “I have worked in this department for a year” and “the work will not be affected.”
