Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am working in one of your company's BMW branch in India as a Project Manager from last three years. Recently, my wife got a job as a Registered Practical Nurse in Canada and we are planning to spend upcoming six months there. I want to support her by being there during the term of job offer. All this could be possible only if you would post me in company's head office in Canada. I am requesting you as this is an international company whose franchises are located almost in each country of this planet.
I would not led my work duties suffer. In India, I am working from home since the day I hired. However, the head office demands employee to be present physicaly every single working day. I am entirely prepared to experience office code of conduct.
For this dream to come true, I need your assistance in several ways. First and foremost, it would be a grateful for me if you could accept my transfer request. Secondly, I would need housing arrangement as I read at the company's website that it provides the same for their employees. Last but not least, please rivert back at your earliest convenience.
I would be looking forward for a positive response.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Jasleen Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you explain that your wife’s job in Canada motivates the move, describe your current home-working arrangement and willingness to attend the head office, and ask your manager to approve a transfer and help with housing. The purpose is clear and relevant. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. In particular, you do not explain in practical detail how your duties would be completed while you are away—for example, whether you could continue remotely, hand over tasks, or coordinate with colleagues in Canada. The request for housing is also an additional request rather than a clear explanation of the manager’s role in arranging the work placement. Clarifying these points would make the letter more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear overall progression: you introduce your circumstances, discuss work arrangements, make specific requests, and close politely. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “First and foremost,” “Secondly,” and “Last but not least” guide the reader through your requests. The sequence is easy to follow, although the list of requests feels somewhat mechanical, and the connection between working from home in India and being physically present at the Canadian office could be explained more smoothly. The opening also moves quickly from your current role to your wife’s job. More natural transitions and clearer links between these ideas would make the organisation feel more flexible while preserving the effective structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a formal workplace letter, including “Project Manager,” “transfer request,” “term of job offer,” and “office code of conduct.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and the tone is generally appropriate. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, however, such as “I would not led my work duties suffer,” “it would be a grateful for me,” and “rivert back.” There are also spelling errors, including “physicaly.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Aim to use familiar professional expressions accurately—for example, explain how you will “ensure my responsibilities are covered” and ask the manager to “get back to me.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including the conditional request “if you could accept my transfer request” and the explanation beginning “as I read at the company’s website.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. Examples include “from last three years” instead of a present-perfect time expression, “since the day I hired” instead of a passive form, and “I would not led” instead of the correct verb form after “would.” Articles and agreement also need attention in “the head office demands employee” and “it provides the same for their employees.” Review tense, passive constructions, articles, and subject–verb agreement, then proofread each sentence to improve control without losing your varied sentence structure.
