Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Manager,
Congratulations on your recent promotion to senior manager. I am planning for a six months trip to Canada in April 2027. I heard a new project is going to start from May and many employees from Hyderabad office is moving to Canada office for Six months. It will be really helpful if you recommend me to the project.
I am getting married in the next month and my fiance pursuing his master's in Canada. He is having graduation ceremony in May so I want to be apart of his celebration. At present he is in a contract with a company which will complete by December. If I get a chance to work in the new project, I can spend some time with my fiance, in addition to that it will give me an opportunity to explore Canada.
I will be available remotely to connect with the Hyderabad team and I will work few hours in IST. I played a crucial role in our recent project and I received an ward for excellence so I believe I had a considerable experience to become a part of the Canada project. I would appreciate it if you could help me with the process.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Best regards,
Pranusha

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you explain your personal reason for wanting to go to Canada, describe how you could remain connected with the Hyderabad team, and ask your manager to help arrange the move. The details about your fiancé’s graduation and your experience on a recent project make the request relevant. However, the professional purpose is not fully clear: you mention a new project and ask to be recommended for it, but do not explain why working at the head office itself would benefit your work or the company. The remote-work plan is also brief, and the reference to working a few hours in IST leaves the practical arrangement unclear. Develop these points more explicitly and connect your personal motivation to the company’s needs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a recognisable structure, with an opening, paragraphs for your reasons and work arrangements, and a polite closing. The ideas are generally understandable, and phrases such as “in addition to that” help show a relationship between points. However, the progression is sometimes abrupt: the opening moves from the promotion to the trip and project, while the personal circumstances and work plan are not linked clearly to the request. The phrase “At present he is in a contract…” also interrupts the explanation without making its relevance clear. Use paragraphing to separate your professional rationale, personal circumstances, and proposed work arrangements, and add clearer transitions so the request develops in a more logical sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a workplace request, including “recommend me to the project,” “available remotely,” “crucial role,” and “considerable experience.” These choices communicate your main points, and the tone is mostly appropriate. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, however, such as “planning for a six months trip,” “apart of his celebration,” and “in a contract with a company.” There is also a spelling error in “ward” where “award” is intended. These slips do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision. Aim for natural professional phrasing and check spelling, especially in key details about your experience and proposed assignment.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the conditional request “It will be really helpful if you recommend me…” and the longer sentence explaining your fiancé’s graduation. Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “many employees … is moving” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “my fiance pursuing his master's” needs a finite verb. “I will work few hours” also needs an article before “few hours,” while “I believe I had” uses a tense that does not fit your current experience. Review agreement, complete verb forms, articles, and tense consistency. More accurate control of these patterns would make the letter sound more polished.
