Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I want to work in companies head office for first six months because it will be very beneficial for me start my career with this opportunity. In this way i will get the chance to meet professionals and to learn more about the different rules and strategies. It can boom my career.
I have already aimed for this from last month and trained my team in a way that they can handle all tasks in my absence, but at the same time i will be available online all the time to help them out if would face any problem. Another strategy which I would adopt will be task dedication before a day so that everybody can prepare before time and if needed help I can guide them.
I will be really grateful for your kind concern, if you could help me out in this. I assure you that after getting this opportunity and learning from the institute, I will be more helpful for the team, institute and will be beneficial in upgrading our system.
Your's Faithfully,
Umaima Kamran

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you explain that the placement would help your career and let you learn from professionals, describe how your team could manage tasks while you are away, and ask your manager for assistance. The explanation of the benefits is relevant, but claims such as “It can boom my career” are not developed with a specific professional goal. Your arrangements are more detailed, including training the team and remaining available online, although the proposed “task dedication before a day” is unclear. To strengthen the letter, explain what you hope to learn at the head office and make the practical arrangements more precise, such as how often you would support the team remotely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it gives your reason for requesting the placement, explains how work could continue, and ends with a request for help. Paragraphing supports this progression, and links such as “In this way,” “but at the same time,” and “Another strategy” help connect ideas. However, some connections are mechanical, and the second paragraph combines several arrangements in long sentences, making the sequence harder to follow. The reference in “if would face any problem” is also unclear because the reader has to infer who might face a problem. Use shorter sentences to separate the team’s responsibilities from your remote support, and make references explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of relevant workplace vocabulary, including “professionals,” “strategies,” “trained my team,” and “available online,” so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts to use more formal expressions, such as “I will be really grateful” and “I assure you.” However, several choices are unnatural or imprecise: “boom my career,” “task dedication,” and “kind concern” do not express your intended meaning naturally. “Institute” is also unclear in this company context. Aim for accurate collocations and consistent workplace terminology; for example, describe the career benefit as professional development and refer to the head office or company rather than an institute.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “that,” and “if,” and the overall meaning is generally clear. Some grammatical errors remain, however. In “for first six months,” the article is missing, and “for me start my career” needs a grammatical construction such as “for me to start my career.” The conditional phrase “if would face any problem” lacks a clear subject and auxiliary; write, for example, “if they face any problems.” Capitalisation of “I” is inconsistent, and the closing “Your's Faithfully” has incorrect punctuation and capitalisation. Check articles, infinitive patterns, and sentence boundaries when proofreading.
