Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Mr. Amit,

I want to express my interest to spend six months working at our company's head office in Toronto. This seems to be great potential for both my self-growth and for the company as well.

Toronto's office is a head office which will surely give me an option to showup with my full potential. Indeed, i'll be observing things closely and try to learn and improve myself.Additionally, it'll help me to build good shape future.

As for my duties, i would be doing remote inventory management.I would do my best to make it not hard at all workers to understand things by emails, calls or video calls. i will make sure every work goes under my supervision.

I would like to ease any inquiries by making sure the tasks and projects would be managed efficiently. Any support in the early stages of the project would be appreciated.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Yours Sincerely,

Anmol dadwal

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you explain your interest in the Toronto head office, describe how you would handle inventory duties remotely, and ask for support. The reasons about learning and contributing are relevant, but “show up with my full potential” and “build good shape future” do not make your intended benefits clear. The remote-work plan is also quite general: emails, calls and video calls are mentioned, but you do not explain how inventory work would be organised or handed over. Your request for help focuses on “support in the early stages” rather than clearly asking your manager to arrange the six-month placement. Develop these points and make the requested action explicit to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you introduce the request, give reasons, explain your duties, and close politely. Paragraphing helps distinguish these purposes, and transitions such as “Additionally” and “As for my duties” guide the reader. This logical progression is a strength. However, some links between ideas are unclear, particularly the move from your remote-work arrangements to “I would like to ease any inquiries,” which does not clearly connect to the manager’s role or the placement request. The final request also feels separate from the earlier explanation. Make the relationship between each paragraph explicit and use clearer references to the six-month arrangement; this would make the cohesion more consistently smooth.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the situation, including “head office,” “inventory management,” “supervision,” and “projects,” so the main topic is understandable. However, several noticeable word-choice and collocation problems make parts of the letter difficult to interpret. “Show up with my full potential” is not a natural way to describe demonstrating your abilities, while “build good shape future” is unclear. “Make it not hard at all workers” also obscures your meaning. Aim for accurate, natural phrases rather than combining familiar words in unusual ways, and check spelling and capitalisation, including “myself,” “I’ll,” and “I.” A more precise range of workplace expressions would make your reasons and plan clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, for example, “This seems to be great potential for both my self-growth and for the company as well” and “I would do my best to make it not hard…” The main message is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems reduce clarity. In “I want to express my interest to spend,” use a gerund after “interest in”; “Toronto’s office is a head office which” needs a more accurate article and sentence construction. There are also missing spaces after punctuation and inconsistent capitalisation of “I,” which affect sentence presentation. Review verb patterns, articles, and sentence boundaries, then proofread for consistent punctuation. More accurate control of these forms would strengthen the letter.
