Dear ................. ,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Mr.Smith,

I am writing this letter to ask you for your assistance in arranging my work to the head office in another country for six months.

I would like to work on this position particularly because it allows me to travel to our head office, which is located in London, where I can stay for next six months and can learn a lot of new skills from my other colleagues in that office. Moreover, I could enjoy the new culture and environment that help me to perform well once I will be back to the office.

As per my work concern when i will be away from the office, I would suggest that I will stay connected via online conferences and try to finish my task before travel. Additionally, I could ask other colleagues to helndle my projects for the time.

I would be greteful if you could help me with the arrangement, as believe I could be a perfect candidate for this psoition and I would never disappoint you with my work in the head office. I would appreciate it If you could help me with all the documentation procedure, and if you required any documents from my side please let me know.

I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours faithfully,

Margee

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three requested points and maintains a clear, appropriate purpose: you ask to work at the London head office, explain that you hope to develop skills and experience a different culture, and suggest staying connected online while colleagues cover projects. You also make a direct request for help with arrangements and documentation. These details make the response relevant and sufficiently extended. To strengthen the explanation further, specify more clearly how the six-month placement would benefit the company as well as your own development, and give a more concrete plan for managing your responsibilities while away. The request is clear, though the reasons and practical arrangements could be developed with slightly more precision.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear progression: the opening states its purpose, the next paragraph explains your motivation, and the following paragraphs cover work arrangements and the request for assistance. Paragraphing supports the reader, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Additionally,” and “I would appreciate it” help connect points. The closing is also appropriate for a formal letter. Some transitions are less smooth, particularly “As per my work concern when i will be away from the office,” which makes the shift to your work plan awkward. The final request combines several ideas in a long sentence. Use a more direct transition and separate the request for help from the offer to provide documents to make the progression more effortless.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to a formal workplace request, including “head office,” “online conferences,” “documentation procedure,” and “assistance.” The range is sufficient to communicate your purpose, but several inaccurate word choices, collocations, and spelling errors reduce precision and naturalness. For example, “work on this position” does not express the intended temporary placement naturally, while “helndle” and “greteful” are misspelled. “As per my work concern” is also an awkward phrase, and “perfect candidate” sounds overly strong in this context. Aim for accurate, conventional workplace expressions and proofread spelling; this will make the letter sound more fluent and professional without needing unusually advanced vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response attempts a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “where,” and “if,” and the overall meaning remains understandable. However, complex structures are often not controlled accurately. In “that help me to perform well once I will be back,” the relative clause and future-time construction are faulty; “when i will be away” also uses an unsuitable tense after “when.” There are further errors in “as believe I could be” and in the sentence beginning “I would appreciate it If,” where the clause structure and punctuation need attention. Practise forming time clauses with present forms for future meaning, and check that each sentence has a complete, correctly linked clause. More accurate control of these patterns would improve clarity.
