Student answer (Band 6.0)
Going out of doors at a late time isn't allowed in some areas of the US for teenagers, and this is applied by a curfew unless they are accompanied by an adult. This measurement could be understand and appreciated as a way to protect young kids from the different dangers found on the streets.
This approach may seems to be over estimated by some people, but I strongly believe that is necessary in order to protect our childrens from various bad situations. One of the main reasons I think that this mesure is beneficial is that it helps the parents to better control their kids especially teenagers, because at this age they go through a transformal period which they push them to try and explore new things, and in some areas in the US this could lead them to do drugs, meet dangerous people, or worst being kidnapped or murdered. An illustration of this is the number of kids being disappeard or killed by gangs or unknown parties, plus the possibility to drop off the school and maybe find themselve in difficult situations such as homelessness.
Another important point is that this curfew can help the parents to better monitor the activites the teenagers interested in, and thus will help the adults to understand their kids better, plus getting to have family time together rather than let the boys decide by themselves how to fill this free time, which will strenghten the bond between the family members. This can be seen when the family plans what to do after work or school, so that they better understand the needs of their childrens and keep them close and satisfied.
Although the curfew imposed in some areas may be seen by the teenagers as an obstacle for their freedom, the family should fill this gap and makes them conscious about this measure, but at the same time try to understand their needs and approach that effectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you support curfews as a way to protect teenagers, and you also acknowledge the concern that they may restrict freedom. The response addresses the question and gives relevant reasons, including exposure to drugs or dangerous people and the opportunity for families to spend time together. The first reason is supported with several possible consequences, while the family-bond argument is less fully explained and relies on a general example of planning activities. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how a curfew itself reduces these risks, and develop the family-time point with a specific, realistic example. Your conclusion could also state more directly how families should balance teenagers’ needs with the restriction.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a concluding paragraph that recognises a counterargument. Ideas generally progress from safety to family relationships, and linking phrases such as “One of the main reasons” and “Another important point” help readers follow the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, the long first body paragraph moves from parental control to gangs, school, and homelessness without clearly showing how each point follows from the curfew. The final paragraph introduces the teenagers’ freedom concern but does not fully connect it to a practical resolution. Use clearer transitions between supporting points and make references such as “this gap” more explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “curfew,” “dangerous people,” “monitor,” and “freedom,” and you attempt some less common expressions such as “strengthen the bond.” However, inaccurate word choice, word forms, collocations, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less clear. Examples include “This measurement” for a rule or policy, “over estimated” for excessive or too restrictive, “transformal period,” and “drop off the school.” There are also spelling errors such as “mesure,” “disappeard,” and “activites.” Build a more reliable range by learning common collocations for discussing youth, safety, and family life, and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “although,” and “so that,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward or unclear. For instance, “This approach may seems” should use the base verb after “may,” while “I strongly believe that is necessary” needs a subject after “that.” In “the family should fill this gap and makes them conscious,” the verbs do not follow a consistent structure. Some sentences are also overloaded with several ideas, particularly the first body paragraph. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and clause structure, and divide long sentences where needed.
