Student answer (Band 6.5)

In many cities of the United States, while curfew, youngsters are restricted to roam around in the area and get out of their homes without an older person at a certain night time. I believe, this rule is beneficial for teenagers in order to be safe and healthy by remaining at home.

The main reason for the requirement of an adult with a teenager is evidence of an important work. By enabling youngsters to go out with their parents would indicate to the police that they might have an important pice of work which needs to be done for several reasons. So the officers would be able to concentrate on other assigned tasks which are essential to adress other emergencies.

Curfew is imposed due to serious risks which might be a trouble if teenagers get out without the presence of an adult. A youngster might stuck at a particular location if went outside alone, as there might be situations in which transpositions and other ways of travel could be shut down. Consequently, a youngster alone might face difficulties in reaching home safely and could end up spending a night outside in a bad situation.

I believe, accompanying an adult by a teenager while going out in a curfew can not only increase the safety of them but can also be useful for a youngster to follow rules which are implemented by the government. In the time of curfew there are several strict rules for the safety of people who are going out and for their family as well. For example, when the Corona virus was spread all over the world masks were mandatory for everyone's safety and the prevention of the spread.

In conclusion, although it might be difficult to manage the situation while curfew, going out with the children is required for reducing the risk and maintaining a peaceful environment for the family and the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion in favor of curfews. The ideas are relevant, focusing on safety and law enforcement efficiency. However, the development is somewhat limited. The argument regarding 'evidence of important work' is slightly unclear and could have been better explained. The example regarding the Coronavirus is not entirely relevant to the specific topic of teenage curfews, as it describes a general public health measure rather than a specific youth-oriented curfew. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete, logical examples that directly support the benefits of curfews for teenagers, such as reducing juvenile delinquency or preventing peer-pressure-related incidents.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central idea. There is a progression of thought from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In the time of curfew there are several strict rules'. Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is more explicitly stated to guide the reader more smoothly through your arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'restricted', 'implemented', and 'mandatory'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'youngsters are restricted to roam around' (should be 'restricted from roaming') and 'pice of work' (spelling error). The phrase 'transpositions and other ways of travel' is also unnatural. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your vocabulary is used in the correct context. While your meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision in word choice prevents a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'while curfew' (should be 'during a curfew'), 'a youngster might stuck' (should be 'might get stuck'), and 'accompanying an adult by a teenager' (which is syntactically confusing). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of control over more complex structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
