Student answer (Band 6.0)
Crime has been increasing by all means in today's turbulent times, wherein the safety of the kids is always on risk. Hence, it is important to have some laws enforced in order to provide them with security. I believe imposing curfew in some parts of US during the night time should not be taken for granted and everyone must adhere to that policy.
Firstly, the most vulnerable to fall prey for the crime are the kids or teenagers, as they lack the ability to outsmart the criminals because they are probably too innocent considering their age. During the day light, the roads are usually busy and it is safe for them to move and call for help aloud, if they face any danger, however after the sunset, when the streets are on rest, their safety is put on risk. For instance, as per the BBC news couple of weeks ago, a group of intoxicated people abducted a child right outside the street of his spirit of math class, this news led the government to enforce similar action, but in addition the need to leave the house must have an appropriate reason like medical emergency.
Secondly, ongoing developments to accommodate human population is leading to the depletion of the forest life, making wild animals leave their habitat and make their way to the city which is a threat to the mankind. The recent incident occurred in one the city of Atlanta, wherein the group of kids playing the park in the evening were attacked by the Bears, leading to several injuries.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion in favor of curfews. However, the development is uneven. The first body paragraph provides a relevant argument regarding crime, though the example provided is somewhat vague. The second body paragraph introduces an argument about wild animals, which is tangential to the core issue of teenage curfews and crime, making the argument less focused. The essay ends abruptly with the word 'Hence', indicating an incomplete conclusion. While the position is clear, the lack of a proper conclusion and the inclusion of less relevant points limit the depth of the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas in the first half. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'However' are used to link ideas. However, the cohesion breaks down significantly at the end of the essay, where the text stops mid-sentence after 'Hence'. This lack of a concluding paragraph negatively impacts the overall coherence and the logical flow of the argument. Referencing is generally clear, but the abrupt ending prevents the essay from achieving a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at more sophisticated phrasing such as 'turbulent times', 'vulnerable to fall prey', and 'depletion of the forest life'. However, there are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'streets are on rest' (instead of 'deserted') and 'outside the street of his spirit of math class' (which is unclear and confusing). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the range is limited and the errors occasionally impede the natural flow of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the group of kids... were attacked') and awkward phrasing ('safety of the kids is always on risk'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete ending leaves the final sentence grammatically unresolved. While the errors do not consistently prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms.
