Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 98 words. This failure to meet the minimum length requirement severely impacts the task achievement, as the ideas are left incomplete and the argument is not developed. While you have stated a position, the essay ends abruptly mid-sentence, meaning the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full introduction, at least two well-developed body paragraphs with supporting examples, and a clear conclusion to meet the length requirement and fully explore the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using a transition phrase like 'To begin with' to start a paragraph. However, because the text is incomplete and ends mid-sentence, there is no overall progression or conclusion. The use of cohesive devices is very limited, and the paragraphing is not fully utilized due to the lack of content. To achieve a higher band, you need to ensure that your ideas are fully developed and linked together with a wider range of cohesive devices, such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast', to create a smooth flow between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally functional but basic, such as 'kids', 'outside', and 'mistakes'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'protect from any mishappening', which is not a standard collocation. The range of vocabulary is limited, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas about the topic. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to social issues, such as 'juvenile delinquency', 'supervision', or 'mitigate risks', rather than relying on simple, everyday language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains several grammatical errors, such as 'It is noticed that few parts of the US, a curfew is announced' (missing prepositions and awkward phrasing) and 'children do not aware about rules' (incorrect use of the verb 'to be'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and the attempt at a complex sentence is incomplete. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically the correct use of auxiliary verbs and prepositions. Increasing your use of complex structures, such as conditional clauses or relative clauses, will also help improve your score.
