Student answer (Band 6.5)
In today's era securities are increasing day by day. United States is enabling curfew in some regions of it, where adult children are not allowed to step out from their homes after a curtain time in dark without the accompany of a adult. I partially agree with the given notion as this will decrease the number of crimes happening with teenagers. this essay will discuss some merits and demerits of this curfew along with my opinion in conclusion.
To begin with, allowing children to go out during night only with the presence of a adult can help to maintain safety. To explicit, It is often observed that during night time there are greater chances of kidnapping of teenagers, which can be prevented by going out with elders, who can protect them from wrong people in the society. For example, In 2024 a survey conducted by police in New York city found that almost 90% for kids kidnapping has taken place during darkness. Moreover, imposing a curfew of not allowing children to step out of doors during night can prevent cases of rapes and molest happening with teen girls at a greater scale.
On the flip side, implementing some rules of restricting people during their adulthood during dark alone can lead to lack of independence and feeling of being strong. To elaborate it, adulthood is a age when individuals learn to be brave and independent, and if they are stopped to go out alone during late evening can develop a sense of fear in them. Also, once any kind of fear has grown in teenagers it becomes difficult to remove it. furthermore, allowing children to be out during specific time with a accompany of some adult only can make the teenagers to be dependent on others and even develop a habit, which will even stay after they become adult themselves.
According to my perspective, imposing curfew is a good step if making it to protect the teenagers from dangers, but proper education about that curfew should be given to children about why they are not permitted to go out alone. As this will help the chances of teenagers to escape without informing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the merits and demerits of teenage curfews. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. While the argument regarding safety is relevant, the counter-argument regarding independence is slightly repetitive. The example provided (a 2024 police survey in New York) is specific but lacks a clear connection to the broader societal context. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on expanding the reasoning behind the 'demerits' section with more nuanced arguments rather than repeating the idea of dependency.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the flip side' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of some cohesive devices is mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between 'education' and 'escaping' is unclear. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more fluid to improve the overall progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, though there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors. For example, 'curtain time' instead of 'certain time', 'accompany of a adult' instead of 'accompaniment of an adult', and 'rapes and molest' instead of 'sexual assault'. These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a limited control over collocation and precise terminology. The student attempts to use some academic vocabulary, but it is often used incorrectly or in a way that sounds unnatural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a adult' instead of 'an adult'), pluralization ('adulthood is a age'), and word forms ('molest' used as a noun). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are persistent throughout the text. The student attempts complex structures, but they are often marred by these inaccuracies. To improve, the student should focus on basic grammatical accuracy, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
