Student answer (Band 6.5)
Freedom is considered as the most important and fundamental right of every human being. However, there are some places in U.S. where youngsters in their teens are not permitted to stay out at night freely until they have a company of adult individual. In the upcoming paragraphs, I'll point out some possible reasons behind this law and explain some of its effects on teenagers along with my opinion on this matter.
To begin with the reasons for passing for this, there are many. Firstly, it ensures the safety of younger generation which is more vulnerable to be the victims of any type of crime for example kidnapping, rape, drug abuse, car accident etc. In addition to this, children of teen age have less understanding of serious issues because of those curfew is imposed. Children accompanying by an adult feel more safe and secure and stress free to deal with any kind circumstances that can put them in danger.
However, this policy has its side effects as well. First of all, it covers only those youngsters who have adults to accompany them for example, their parents, relatives, neighbours or anyone else. But what about those who have no one to look after them. How they will survive in curfew for their basic needs in a curfew?. Secondly, this kind of policy makes younger ones dependent on others for support which will impact them in the longer run.
At last, in my opinion, in a curfew or emergency, every person must possess equal rights about everything. There should be no discrimination on the basis of age even in a curfew. Rather than this policy, government should use other safe and inforatory methods to keep public stay in homes during an emergency.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the reasons for and effects of curfews, and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding children without adult supervision is a strong point, but it is not fully explored or linked back to a concrete solution. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and introduces a new, slightly confusing concept of 'inforatory methods' without explaining what these are. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main point is supported by a specific example or a more detailed explanation of the logic behind your stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'In addition to this', and 'However' are used to guide the reader through the argument. While the structure is generally sound, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally slightly unclear, such as in the sentence 'because of those curfew is imposed', where the connection to the previous clause is weak. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'vulnerable' and 'discrimination'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'company of adult individual' instead of 'adult supervision' and 'inforatory methods', which is not a standard English term. Spelling is generally accurate, but the range of vocabulary is somewhat restricted, preventing the essay from reaching a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' missing before 'curfew' or 'US') and preposition usage ('accompanying by' instead of 'accompanied by'). Subject-verb agreement and pluralization also show occasional slips, such as 'children of teen age'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not significantly impede communication. To improve, focus on refining subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent use of articles and prepositions in complex sentences.
