Student answer (Band 6.5)
In some parts of the United States, the law has been introduced for a curfew, in which teenagers are not allowed out of doors at night after a decided specific time unless they are with their adults. I believe it is a right decision for their safety purpose and this essay will explain reasons for my opinion.
To start with, this rule has been implemented for their safety. To explain, nowadays crimes are increasing in a few areas of the United State, in which many children are missing when they are alone at night time. As a result, their parents are worried for their children who has been kidnaped. For example, many teenage girls are missing from their local area and criminals are blackmailing their parents for the money. Therefore, it is advisable, teenagers are allowed to be out of door at night time with their adults to provide the safety.
Furthermore, it reduces government's expense. To expand, there is a cost for providing safety to teenagers at night time because the government spend money to deploy securities in some areas. For instance, Ohio a part of the United State, where in night time, mafias supply drugs and they use the teenagers who are very innocent and as a result, they spreading crimes using children. For these reasons, in a curfew time, children should not go outside without adult at night time.
In conclusion, I believe that curfew rule would be provided safety and reduced crimes by mafias and criminals who use the teenagers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by stating a clear position in favor of the curfew. The ideas are relevant, focusing on safety and government expenditure. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'mafias' in Ohio is a significant generalization and lacks a logical connection to how a curfew specifically reduces government spending. While the main points are clear, the supporting evidence is anecdotal and lacks the depth required for a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the position, but the overall development remains at a basic level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the link between 'mafias' and 'government expense' is not logically bridged. While the progression of ideas is generally coherent, the lack of sophisticated transitions and occasional awkward phrasing in sentence connections keeps this at a mid-level band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'safety', 'night time', and 'children'. The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'implemented', 'blackmailing', 'expenditure'), but there are instances of unnatural word choice, such as 'with their adults' (should be 'with an adult') and 'decided specific time'. The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility or precision required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('children who has been kidnaped', 'government spend money'), incorrect article usage ('the United State'), and awkward phrasing ('the law has been introduced for a curfew'). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to pluralization and verb tense consistency is needed.
