Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, in the US, a rule is run by the government that child's are not allowed to be outside of home in the night time without their family members.

In my opinion, its one of the best rule that are imposed by the US government as nowadays, because of missing reports that touch the peak in the US teenagers start missing from days and after somedays their deadbodies is found. Cops are not able to solve the case and this things happened continuosly. The second reason is that in the night time if two friends are together one is in bad companies then another child also started same thing because no one can see them and then after that they can return to home and sleep so that no one can know about that.

on the another hand, it might be difficult for those teenagers who don' t have a parent and if they are doing night jobs for their hunger stomach and another one is that there parents are not physically well and they might need to visit outside like to buy medicine them how they can visit.

Too conclude, in my opinion its good to imposed that rule because of the safety if teenagers are not safe means the future not.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion, but it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you provide reasons for your position, they are somewhat underdeveloped and lack depth. For instance, the argument regarding 'bad companies' is a good starting point but needs more elaboration to be fully persuasive. To improve, ensure you expand on your points with more detailed examples or logical consequences. Because the response is under-length, the development of your ideas is restricted, preventing a higher score in this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and sometimes mechanical. Phrases like 'The second reason is that' and 'on the another hand' are used, but the transitions between sentences within paragraphs are often abrupt. The logical progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by the lack of linking words that show clear relationships between your points. To improve, try to use a wider variety of cohesive devices such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'nevertheless' to connect your thoughts more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good rule' and 'bad companies', which are repetitive. There are also some noticeable errors in word choice, such as 'hunger stomach' instead of 'financial hardship' or 'needing to provide for themselves'. Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'deadbodies' and 'continuosly' that, while not always impeding communication, show a lack of control. To improve, focus on learning collocations and more academic synonyms for common words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('its one of the best rule'), article usage ('the night time'), and awkward phrasing ('if they are doing night jobs for their hunger stomach'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with apostrophes and spacing. While the meaning is generally clear, these errors occur frequently enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralisation and verb tenses.
