Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating an opinion in favor of curfews. The ideas are relevant, focusing on safety and productivity. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited by the lack of specific, real-world examples; the mention of 'crimes' is generic, and the reference to 'RDX material' is confusing and irrelevant to the context of teenage curfews. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting arguments would benefit from more depth and logical connection to the specific context of the US, as requested by the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore' and 'To conclude'. However, the flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and fragmented sentences, such as 'And angage with illegal activities' and 'due to lake of maturity'. The paragraphing is present but the internal structure of the paragraphs is often disjointed, making the progression of ideas feel mechanical rather than fluid. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, which occasionally forces the reader to re-read to grasp the intended meaning.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and often inaccurate. There are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'decisign', 'ragulations', 'prohabited', 'disobay', 'assential', 'ensuranse', 'prodictive', 'purants') and word-choice issues (e.g., 'ratify for outing', 'vice designe'). The student attempts to use more complex vocabulary, but these attempts often result in incorrect collocations or non-existent words, which hinders the overall clarity of the argument. To improve, the student needs to focus on basic spelling accuracy and using words in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently marred by grammatical errors. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'individuals are have high enthusiasm'), article usage, and sentence fragments. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with random capitalization and misuse of full stops within sentences. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of grammatical errors and poor sentence construction significantly impacts the readability of the text.
