Student answer (Band 6.0)
In few areas of the United States, a curfew is imposed by authorities thus youngsters do not have permission to go outdoors after a specific time at night so it is essential for them to be accompanied by an adult. From my perspective, a curfew only for teenagers is not a good idea as it can demotivate them and petrify from leaving home at other times too.
Discussing my view of not imposing a curfew only for teenagers, the major reason is that teen-age is an age in which youngsters are more pressurized by families to choose a right field for their future. Due to this approach they prefer going out at night to spend some quality time with their classmates, friends or companions to unwind from this stress. In case, they are not allowed to go out alone, they prefer to stay home and keep thinking the same situations continuously which affect their efficiency and productivity in school or project assignments. Hence, they get demotivated by following a same routine everyday.
Another reason that it should not only be for a particular age because teenagers feel afraid of going to school, market or playground at other times too. When they are aware that crime rate is increasing, which is the reason of curfew, then they prefer to stay at home petrified instead of taking part in other outdoor activities. To illustrate this case, because of less candidates in California's National Hockey team, game was cancelled because teenagers were not looking to participate due to the fear they had related to crime. Thus, countries lose the talent in some ways when curfew is applicable only for a specific age group.
To conclude, although imposing a curfew to safeguard community is a good idea, it should not be for teenagers only as its disadvantages for them and country itself are harmful.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position against the curfew. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact on mental health and the potential loss of talent in sports. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding teenagers being 'petrified' of going out during the day due to a night-time curfew is a significant over-generalization and lacks logical grounding, which weakens the persuasiveness of the argument. While the task is addressed, the supporting examples could be more realistic and better integrated to fully support the main points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In case', 'Hence', and 'To illustrate this case', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or unnatural. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'petrify', 'unwind', and 'safeguard'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'petrify from leaving home' (should be 'petrified to leave') and 'less candidates' (should be 'fewer candidates'). While the range is sufficient, the errors in word formation and collocation prevent a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout, such as 'In few areas' (missing 'a'), 'teen-age is an age' (awkward phrasing), and 'following a same routine' (should be 'the same'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some missing articles and awkward phrasing that occasionally impede the flow. While the meaning is always clear, the frequency of these minor errors keeps the score in the 6.0 range.
