Student answer (Band 6.0)

Individuals who are less than eighteen years of age are not allowed outside of their homes after a certain time in the night, as curfew is forcefully laid in few locations at the US. In my view, it is a good decision taken by the government for the teenagers, as finding more involvement of the in the criminal activities and increasing numbers of the robberies events happened with the under age youngsters.

The main key reason why curfew is a good solution for stopping minors to roam on the streets in the particular night time is, more of them are caught by the police officers to perform the unlawful activities on the streets. In the teen age, youngsters are more passionate about the night parties and having fun with their friends and if they have not provided money for their enjoyments, they will find ways to earn some money by getting in touch with the criminals and fulfill their unruly agendas. For instance, a local police report suggests most of the criminal offences happened by the minors in the late night hours, as they can not be arrested and easily run in the dark. So, for stopping the crimes happened by the underage individuals, curfew is needed for certain time period in the night.

More robbery offences happen with minors, is the another reason why they do not have to roam on the streets in night hours. Thieves are always looking for a soft targets who can not fight back, while they are being looted, and teenagers are the one who are easily be afraid and can not counter them. Because they have less awareness about how to tackle such a disgusting situations. For example, new media report circulated recently shows, more minors particularly aged between 15 to 18 are being easily targeted by the robbers, while they are coming back from their educational extra classes or from their internships in the late night. For saving the youngsters from the criminals, curfew has to be mandatorily enforced in the night. So, they can safely come back to their residences in the daylight.

In conclusion, curfew is mandatory for the young age individuals for saving them from being a criminal and from a criminal.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have clearly stated your position in favor of the curfew and provided two main reasons: the prevention of juvenile crime and the protection of teenagers from being victims of robbery. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported with examples. However, some arguments are slightly repetitive, and the development could be more nuanced. For instance, the claim that teenagers turn to crime because they are not provided money is a generalization that lacks depth. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting points are logically distinct and fully explored without relying on sweeping generalizations about teenage behavior.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'For instance' and 'In conclusion', to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is occasionally repetitive or slightly awkward, such as 'is the another reason why'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between the lack of money and criminal activity feels abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'unlawful activities', 'mandatorily enforced', and 'residences'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'forcefully laid' instead of 'strictly enforced', 'robberies events', and 'disgusting situations' (which is not the most precise term for dangerous situations). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision and occasional non-native phrasing limit your score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations and idiomatic expressions would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include article misuse ('in the US', 'the teen age'), subject-verb agreement ('crimes happened by'), and awkward phrasing ('they do not have to roam' instead of 'they should not roam'). While these errors do not typically impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and preposition usage.
