Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern world, some countries are using different methods to apply restrictions on teenagers for there safety. In certain locations of United States curfew is being used In which children are not allowed to come out after some fixed time without adults. In this writing, both sides will be discussed before reaching conclusion.

According to some people, teenagers should not be allowed to be outdoor because it is beneficial for child safety. As today, there are many serious crimes going on with children like murders, kidnaping, and rapes etc. For example, there was case in U.S, in which teenage girl was kidnaped and brutally raped late night. Thus, it is understandable why most people support it.

On the other hand, few people disagree with the restrictions being imposed by U.S government as these laws are limiting the freedom of youngsters. Moreover, many believes that parents can take proper care of there children. Parents can decide what's good and bad for there child. Also, by adding these limitations are resulting adverse effects on children like less social involvement and less fitness which directly leads to delayed development in youngsters. In addition to this, child can lost the lifestyle of late nights in which some families sit outside and enjoy and many more. However, when looking at this discussion merits of this are not overweighing benefits of curfew being used.

In the end, after examining both the sides it felts like curfew being used with appropriate limitations is resulting as an advantageous step. Thus, I hoped teenagers safety should be first before everything and these measures are fair to take.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and provides a clear position, although the development of ideas is somewhat limited. You discuss both sides of the argument, which is good, but the supporting points—such as the impact on social development—are presented in a list-like fashion rather than being fully explored with depth. The conclusion is clear, but the overall argument could be strengthened by providing more nuanced reasoning rather than relying on general statements. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is expanded with a clear explanation or a more detailed example to demonstrate a deeper engagement with the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'According to', 'On the other hand', and 'In addition to this' to link your points. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'when looking at this discussion merits of this are not overweighing benefits'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences flow more naturally into one another would help improve the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'restrictions', 'beneficial', and 'advantageous'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'there safety' (their safety), 'kidnaping' (kidnapping), and 'child can lost the lifestyle'. These errors do not generally impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on mastering common collocations and proofreading for basic spelling and homophone errors, which will allow you to use a wider range of vocabulary with greater accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('in U.S'), subject-verb agreement ('many believes'), and preposition usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to keep the score in the 6.0 range. Focusing on sentence construction and ensuring consistent subject-verb agreement will significantly enhance the quality of your writing.
