Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing both sides of the argument and a clear position. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact on crime rates and the restriction of independence for working teenagers. However, some points are slightly under-developed; for instance, the link between staying home and academic performance is asserted but not fully explained. The introduction is a bit wordy and slightly confusing in its phrasing, but the overall position remains clear throughout the essay. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully expanded with more specific reasoning or examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The first and foremost reason', 'In addition', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Hence, this essay will explain...'. Additionally, the use of punctuation around some cohesive devices, like 'eventually ,daily study consider themselves', is incorrect and disrupts the flow. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression could be smoother with more sophisticated linking phrases.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are several instances of awkward collocations and word choices. For example, 'footprints of younger people' is an unnatural way to describe teenagers, and 'shadow of an adult' is an unusual idiom in this context. Phrases like 'dark time' and 'worst condition' are imprecise. While the student attempts to use a range of vocabulary, the lack of precision and some non-native phrasing limit the score. Focusing on more natural collocations and academic word choices would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the nighttime beauty of the states'), subject-verb agreement ('safety standards becomes'), and word order. Some sentences are clunky, such as 'not only teenagers are keep out from the independence'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, the student should focus on basic sentence construction, proper use of articles, and ensuring that verb forms are consistent throughout the text.
