Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 195 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address the topic of curfews, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting examples. The position is stated as a 'mix up', which is acceptable, but the lack of depth prevents a more thorough exploration of the social implications. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples or logical consequences to meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between ideas is often abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate (e.g., 'Another side we think otherwise'). The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of your argument. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'however') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that relates directly to your main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'dissicion' for 'decision', 'wright' for 'right', and 'habbites' for 'habits'. These errors sometimes make the meaning difficult to grasp. You rely on basic vocabulary, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas about social policy. To improve, try to learn and use more precise academic vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'legislation', 'supervision', 'vulnerable', or 'socio-economic factors', and pay closer attention to spelling accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'crime rates is', 'most risk on child girls'), sentence structure, and punctuation. Many sentences are fragmented or lack necessary articles and prepositions. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and subject-verb agreement. Practicing the use of complex sentences with subordinate clauses will also help you move to a higher band.
