Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion in favor of curfews. The ideas are relevant, such as safety and health benefits, and are supported by references to surveys and studies. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding 'early age disease' is a bit vague and not fully explained. While the position is consistent throughout, the essay would benefit from more nuanced exploration of the counter-arguments or a more sophisticated analysis of the social implications of such policies to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Cause of this' or 'from this'. Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. While the paragraphing is functional, the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'those are the one') is more precise and grammatically accurate.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their opinion clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'curfew', 'authority', and 'ratio'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'habituation of wrong kind of activities' and 'early age disease'. The range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on basic vocabulary. To improve, the student should focus on more natural collocations and precise terminology to express complex ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'this viewpoints has'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'may faced'), and punctuation errors. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The student should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly tense consistency and article usage, before attempting more complex structures.
