Student answer (Band 6.0)

Under some circumstances US government impose curfew on teenager who are not allowed to go outside without adults at night. I firmly believe that it is good for children especially in sense of safety and control crime effectively that outweigh the negative aspect particularly freedom of move and extra responsibility for parents.

Firstly, people support the argue that after imposing the curfew after a specific time is for teenager security. Because it is good way to look after their children at home as well outside the house. For example, people enjoy more family time that leads to strong emotional bounding. Additionally, it will reduce the children club and party time which is spread badly in US youth. In some cases, these boys involve in many street crimes. For example, a recent study proves that number of youths used to drink wine and wondering out after 10 p.m.

On the other hand, some people believe that it is put pressure on parents after long working hours. People prefer calm night and need some rest after hectic day. For instance, A delivery man unable to helps his children after 12 hours duty just for the small task outside. Moreover, it snatches the freedom of movement and limited the responsibilities. As many parents assign different task to their children after their school time due to curfew it will put additional burden on gardens. Meanwhile, it also affects the teenager internship that they perform in evenings.

In conclusion, curfew with certain time period is acceptable under some limitation. I believe it provide the security to youth and also help to check their parttime activities. However, there should find an appropriate way to handle such circumstances that do not affect essential movement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed the prompt by clearly stating your position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout the essay. You provided relevant arguments for both sides, such as safety and family bonding versus parental burden and restricted freedom. However, some ideas are under-developed. For instance, the mention of 'children club' and 'wine' is slightly vague and lacks a clear connection to the broader argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explained with more precise examples. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, though it could be more nuanced regarding the 'appropriate way' to handle the situation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Additionally', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as in the second paragraph where the transition from family time to street crime feels abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but ensure that pronouns and linking words are used more naturally to improve the overall progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'curfew', 'security', and 'freedom of movement'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'emotional bounding' (should be 'bonding'), 'spread badly' (should be 'prevalent'), and 'burden on gardens' (likely meant 'guardians'). These errors occasionally hinder the precision of your argument. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary rather than relying on direct translations or slightly incorrect word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with article usage ('the number of youths'), subject-verb agreement ('these boys involve'), and tense consistency. Some sentences are also structurally awkward, such as 'people support the argue that after imposing the curfew... is for teenager security'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity. Increasing your focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve your score.
