Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some location in the United States of America, restriction of movement has been forced on the younger people between the age of 12-18. Not to come outside at a certain time of the night, unless they are escorted by an elderly person. though the reason behind this remained uncertain, it is beginning to affect the younger population negatively. My response was triggered by several complaint by both parents and the affected age groups. Celebrities and business owners within the described age can no longer excercise their fundamental human right of movement. which is affecting night life across the cities listed. Cancellation of shows and shuting down of businesses before their usual time.
The growing concern about the breach of the right to movement as enshrined in the constitution has been neglected. this is also affecting businesses that operate at night.
It have been noticed recently that shows are being cancelled because the performing celebrities are within a certain age group. Owners of businesses that run within the late hours are also forced to shut down which is affecting the economy.
In my opinion, the authorities should call off the curfew. the the restrictions is really hurting the young people and slowing the growth of the economy.
In conclusion, government should fix the cause of the restriction and allow for normalcy, because the more people are locked inside, the more economic opportunities are denied for most of the younger people. consideration should also be places on their fundamental human right with has been breached.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by stating a clear position against the curfew. However, the development of ideas is limited. The argument relies on somewhat unrealistic examples, such as 'celebrities' within the 12-18 age group being unable to perform, which weakens the persuasiveness of the essay. The points regarding economic impact are relevant but remain under-developed. To reach a higher band, you should provide more realistic, everyday examples, such as the impact on students attending evening study groups or sports practice, and expand on the reasoning behind why these restrictions are ineffective or unfair.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. Some paragraphs are very short, consisting of only one or two sentences, which disrupts the flow. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as starting sentences with 'which is' or 'this is'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the connection between ideas. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure each paragraph develops a single, clear theme.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'restriction of movement has been forced' instead of 'imposed' and 'elderly person' to describe any adult. While the meaning is generally clear, the range is limited, and there is a reliance on basic vocabulary. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific terminology related to law, civil liberties, and social policy, and pay closer attention to natural word combinations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the restrictions is', 'it have been noticed') and sentence fragments ('which is affecting night life...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several sentences starting with lowercase letters or lacking proper structure. While the meaning is usually understandable, these errors are persistent and distract the reader. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofreading for common agreement errors.
